Our
work on portraits, in Art, linked to our Maths work
when we produced these symmetrical face pictures. The
children's pictures were taken with a digital camera.
Then half of their face was cut and pasted onto a piece
of paper using image/DTP packages. The children completed
the other half of the faces using pen. I was going to
get them to add tone or colour but they look quite effective
as they are.
One
idea would be to get them to do half the face as above then remove
the photo and get them to complete the other half of the face
by mirroring what they'd already done!
Charcoal
Portraits
Many
of the children hadn't used charcoal before but they enjoyed
this first exploration with it. They worked from black
and white photographs of each other so that they could
get some idea of tone, light and dark.
