Sorting Words

Objective: To reinforce recognition and visual patterning of 40 common words

Ways to sort:

• Collect as pairs and justify reason, e.g. opposites, same sound
• Make alphabetical lists
• Lay out as dominoes matching first/last letters e.g. about - too - old - down - new etc.
• Sort into piles they know easily and don't know. Learn unknown words using Look, Cover, Write & Check.
• Use two sets of cards to play Pelmanism or snap (shout out word instead of "Snap!")
