Books: George's Marvellous Medicine

'George's Marvellous Medicine' by Roald Dahl

There's probably no need to recommend Roald Dahl's books as I would hope that everyone uses them anyway! Out of all of his wonderful stories this one is probably my favourite book for using with children.

George has a grizzly old grunion of a grandma with revolting eating habits. When he can't stand her any longer, George decides to cure her nastiness for good. He concocts a very special medicine which is as nasty as she is... with explosive results!

There's so much work you can do on this one from character descriptions to newspaper reports to writing instructions for creating your own medicine. Lots of fun.
