Pound a Poem

Cancer Research UK launches their 'Pound a Poem' poetry competition today. Aimed at Year 3 to Year 6 pupils the competition involves getting the students to write a poem about fruit and vegetables.
Entry into the competition costs £1 per poem. The money raised goes to Cancer Research and the four winning poems from each school (one from each year group) which will be entered into the national final. When I was writing this blog entry the prizes for winning weren't listed but I'm sure they'll appear on the site later in the day.
The 'Pound a Poem' site contains useful information for teachers (such as links to poetry resources), a couple of lesson plans, a topic web and also a cartoon short that introduces the activity.
