Easter Resources

http://www.primaryresources.co.uk/other/other2.htm#easter
I received quite a few contributions to our Easter section this weekend. I've put the new additions up early, rather than wait until the main update at the end of the week, so teachers can use the resources before the Easter break starts.

I'll keep this page updated with any new material I receive so, if you've produced anything Easter related then please feel free to send it in!

(Note: More religious Easter material is in the RE/Christianity section of the site)

Creating Talking Books

(Link Here)
Jonathan White has sent me details of the great video tutorial that he's put together on how to create a talking book in MS Powerpoint 2003. You can see it by clicking on the link to the Video Jug website above. I've also put a copy of his written instructions into the next update of Primary Resources. Jonathan also mentioned the excellent free guide on talking books in powerpoint that's available from the Ace Centre charity website.

Prime Number Posters

I thought I'd give Adrian Bruce's excellent website another mention here as he's just put up a nice little collection of prime number posters. They've been designed to go on his class 'mathematics wall' to help his students remember some of the important information about primes. Adrian is planning to produce more posters as the year progresses so it's worth keeping an eye on his blog.

Roy the Zebra

http://www.roythezebra.com/
This great site provides access to a nine-part online story, Roy: Tale of a Singing Zebra. It's wonderfully illustrated and has been designed for use as a guided reading text for Key Stage 1. Each part of the story is accompanied by guided reading questions and activity sheets. There's also a super collection of interactive literacy games and even some songs based on the characters in the story.

(At the time of writing the site is offering the chance to win £100 (or US$200) of Amazon vouchers to users who complete the site survey.)

Early ICT

http://www.kented.org.uk/ngfl/earlyict

NatureGrid

http://www.naturegrid.org.uk
I've mentioned some of the sites that make up Canterbury Envionmental Education Centre's wondeful NatureGrid resource in the blog before.

The most famous of these sites is Sebastian Swan's Infant Explorer which was created by Kent teachers and includes wonderful KS1-targetted big books, teachers' & parents' pages, science links and lots of Literacy lesson plans and resources. Sebastian even has his own weblog!

The NatureGrid site has absolutely loads of other nature and habit themed pages. There's material on ponds, woodlands, grasslands, plants and rivers. There's a section on art, the Eco-Explorer sustainability website and also web quests that involve locating answers to questions using NatureGrid.

NatureGrid includes annotated QCA units of work that demonstrate where and when the websites can support learning. This site shows how well environmental centres, local teachers and council advisors can work together to produce material that can help educate students across the country.
