For this homework
you will need the help of an adult. You're probably best talking
to an older relative, perhaps your grandparents.
I would like
you to bring into school a collection of popular cliches and expressions.
I'm after
things like:
"under the
weather"
"put on a
brave face"
"pushing your
luck"
"given up
the ghost"
"got an axe
to grind"
"not enough
room to swing a cat"
"over the
top"
"taken for
a ride"
Write any
that you find down and bring your collections into school. In
school we'll be talking about what these phrases mean and where
they come from.
