Hare and Hounds

(Idea contributed by Jenny Field)

Jenny writes: 'Purpose: to get whole class changed to hounds.

Start: Choose one or two children to be 'Hounds' They're horrible, & chase the nice 'Hares'.

Hounds have band in their hand (folded, so they don't whack with it).
Rest of class wear a band (any colour). They are the hares.

Define playing area - going out of bounds means hare is 'out'.

Hares run away. On signal, hounds begin chase. They tig a hare & shout 'tig'. Hare stops, takes off band, & now becomes a hound & helps tig hares.

As game progresses, hares diminish & hounds grow. Last hare has whole class chasing him! If you don't have bands, try tucking in shirts for hares, & pulling out shirts for hounds..'
