Literacy Task Cards
This resource contributed by Ginny Dorrington
Ginny Dorrington sent me some excellent Literacy activity sheets. Unfortunately they were based on copyrighted text that is, of course, okay for us to use in schools but I can't, at the moment, reproduce it on the website. I do get quite a bit of stuff like this. What I've done with Ginny's sheets is I've converted them into task cards that you can use with your children by selecting a suitable text to go with each one. I've added a few cards of my own. Any more activities along these lines would be greatly appreciated!

Literacy Task Card

Look at the apostrophes in this passage. Write down in your Language book each word, which has an apostrophe, and explain why it is there.

Literacy Task Card

Find __ common nouns in this passage. Make a list in your Language books. You should also find five proper nouns.

Literacy Task Card

Find __ adjectives in this passage. Make a list of them in your Language book. Then make up some sentences. Each sentence must contain at least three of the adjectives.

Literacy Task Card

Find the meanings of the words underlined in the text you've been given. Once you've done that write sentences of your own which use each of the words.

Literacy Task Card

Find a synonym of each of the underlined words in the passage you've been given. Copy out the passage using your new words.
