Literacy Objectives
idea contributed by Dorothy Wood

As there is a great emphasis on children understanding the objectives during the Literacy hour I decided to make life easier. I looked through each terms objectives for year one (my year group) and picked out general ideas e.g. To learn about capitalisation. I then typed out this objective in black and then made a 'children' friendly version in a box in red. e.g ' Where we can use capital letters', on the same card. I then put these cards, in a box, with the work for each group for that day and the table monitor reads the card to his/her table before they start the task. The children are becoming quite adept at this and hopefully have a better idea of why they are doing that task. It also means that I can see which objectives I am covering in a week.
