A more difficult version of netball

(Idea contributed by Simeon Mills)

Simeon writes: 'A game for 14 players (7 in each team)

You will need:

  • 2 hoops
  • a tennis- size ball
  • 2 tennis rackets

Object of the game

  • To score as many goals as possible

How to score

  • By throwing the ball into the hoop

How to play

  • Players stand in the same positions as a netball team
  • Play starts with a toss up of the ball between centres
  • Players must pass the small ball by throwing.
  • If the ball is dropped, it automatically goes to the nearest player of the opposite team.
  • Players may intercept passes for possesion of the ball.
  • The defenders of the goal (hoop) are equipped with tennis rackets to WHACKIT if it comes near them. These defenders must stand behind the hoop.
  • The goal defender changes each time a goal is scored.
  • All other rules are the same as netball.

This game concentrates on childrens' throwing and catching skills and is particularly good for stretching the more skilled thrower and catcher. My year 6 class invented this game and absolutely love it! Their hand - eye co-ordination has been fine tuned by this game.'
